The aim of this project is to replace the old, outdated central heating in the village hall and replace it with an energy efficient system that will allow for cheaper running costs and for the hall to

Estimated Price

10000

1. What do you want to do? We aim to upgrade the current, outdated central heating system within the village hall and replace it with a modern, energy efficient system. Funding is required for:

  • Removal of the existing oil  heating system
  • Installation of an air source heat pump
  • Associated plumbing, electrical work and insulation improvements
  • Contingency

2. Why is your project important for your community? (Include alignment with your Area Place Plan) The village hall is a key community asset used for social groups, events, workshops and local services. However, the current heating is unreliable, costly to run, and no longer fit for purpose, resulting in reduced winter use and higher operational costs for the committee. Upgrading the heating system directly supports our Area Place Plan priorities by:

  • Improving the sustainability of community assets
  • Supporting local groups by providing a warm, safe and accessible environment
  • Reducing carbon emissions and contributing to local net zero ambitions
  • Helping ensure the long‑term viability of the hall as a space for community activity, connection and resilience

This fits with the Sutherland Area Place Plan community centres and hubs are a key priority. It states there should be calls for more funding and support for community centres and the network of hubs which provide services such as day care, lunch clubs and activities

3. What positive impact will your project have? (Expected outcomes) The project will deliver:

  • Lower running costs, allowing more community funds to be reinvested into activities and maintenance
  • A warmer, more welcoming hall, increasing usage by local groups, families and service providers
  • Reduced carbon emissions, contributing to net zero and long term sustainability
  • Improved energy efficiency
  • Stronger community confidence, knowing their hall is futureproofed and wellmaintained

Overall, the project will enhance the hall’s role as a central, inclusive hub for the whole community.

4. What key milestones have you achieved so far and what are your next steps?

  • Community Engagement & Support: Community consultation completed with strong support for heating upgrades
  • Project Plan/Feasibility: Initial assessments completed confirming that replacement is required
  • Permissions: No permissions required; supplier has confirmed requirements
  • Quotes Obtained: Multiple quotes sourced from certified heating contractors
  • Funding Applications: Match funding is secured

Next Steps:

  • Funding approval
  • Select contractor and finalise installation schedule
  • Removal of old system and installation of new heating
  • Project review and community update

5. Anticipated start / end date

  • Start date: May 2026
  • Completion date: August 2026
