Borrodale Schoolhouse and Primary School is a traditional stone building built in the 1880's. The school closed in 2007 and has remained unused since. The building was bought by the Glendale Trust in 2014 to bring it back into use as a community asset. As one of the few substantial buildings within Glendale, it's significant to the community's architectural and cultural heritage, and the community have expressed the desire for it to be retained, and its external appearance maintained as far as possible.

This development is currently included in the Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP) and has the support of the Housing Council.
A review of the Housing Prospects and availability of rental properties highlights that there is a significant lack of availability alongside high demand within the area.
The proposed development has been procured via a regulated tender, and we hope to appoint the contractors this financial year, with construction starting shortly after.
The Glendale Trust and the Communities Housing Trust (CHT) are working in partnership to the project to fruition. The Glendale Trust will retain ownership while CHT will lease the building. CHT will be managing the renovation and construction phase and will then manage the ongoing allocations and property management. The homes will be allocated according to a local allocations policy to ensure local needs are prioritised.
