The goal of the project is to build an extension to the museum entrance and create a community garden and performance space which will be of benefit to visitors , our 200 members and the community.

Historylinks Museum in Dornoch is a very successful visitor attraction. In the past few years we have established a vibrant programme of community engagement which contributes to the well being and resiience of the community.

A range of consultations: Drawings in the museum with invitation to comment, on Facebook page, with Commuity Council/other local organisatons, with our Front of House volunteers, Project Sub Group formed.
The project contributes to all Area Place Plan themes.
The impact will be to reduce heat loss in the museum, encourage people to come in, create an attractive outdoor space/garden for all to enjoy,
The Project Plan is in the fund raising phase - five sources to be applied for, three in train. Costs have been estimated in line with BICS standards for this type of building and landscaping work.
Planning Permission is currently being sought.
We plan to start at the end of November and the build has to be complete before the museum opens on 1/4/2027 to minimise disruption.
