Proposal code: THC-2026-07-167

We would like 2 team shelters (home/away) to be built at our home football pitch, Stafford Park, Golspie to offer shelter to players, coaches, officials during training and match days.

Estimated Cost

£2,500

We have identified a need for team shelters at our home ground, Stafford Park, Golspie. With our season running from March through to October it is inevitable that all Highland & Islands teams face challenges with unpredictable weather conditions. As such, shelter becomes a crucial need for teams and officials on match day and during training sessions. We are fortunate to have access to the clubhouse for changing facilities and toilets but at our pitch players and officials are left exposed to the elements. This makes it problematic for substitutes, physiotherapist and coaches staying warm and therefore makes players more prone to injury. Not having a designated base to work from on game day is not ideal for the club and if poor weather falls on game day or at training, much of our kit gets soaked. So far we are fortunate to have had a successful grant award of £1000 from Scottish Power. We await decisions from Spar Community Cashback and Aldi Sports Fund. We have community support from the likes of GYAP Golspie Youth Action Project, local mens football club and a local councillor. Thankfully we have consent from the Council pending completion of our Project Notice Form. A local contractor who is Highland Council approved has agreed to take on the work and we await his quotation coming through. We hope to get the work completed before our 2027 season begins.
