We are aiming to develop a base in Nairn for coastal Sculling and Beach Sprints based at Nairn harbour. We have affilaited with the Nairn Sailing club to access the use of facilities and storage of equipment. We have purchased new coastal boats to be based in Nairn and aim to deliver regular sessions from the beach throughout the year. We have already engaged with Nairn Academy and have provided some indoor rowing machines to them so they can commence some training. We plan to offer regular sessions for school aged pupils as well as sessions for adults. 

It was identified in "Our Nairnshire" that there was a lack of provision of sporting activities in the town and therefore by bringing a new opportunty to Nairn we hope to encourage local interest and engagment. Beach Sprints is a new discipine of rowing/sculling that will feature in the upcoming LA28 Olympics, we have already hosted the Home International Beach Sprints in Nairn and the beach has proven itself to be an ideal location for the development of this sport. It will be our intention to bring future regattas to Nairn therby adding to the local benefit from tourism and awareness of the town.

We wish to enable people of Nairn and surrounding area the opportunity to try this new sport and develop a long term base in the town for all to enjoy. Working alongside the Sailing club, Kayay club, Skiff Club we feel we can introduce more people to the coastline and gain an appreciation of the water. We are delivering a unique and new activity that we hope will be replicated in other coastal towns in the future but Nairn will be the first in the North to benefit from these new activities.

We have support from both Scottish Rowing and British Rowing for the project and the Inverness Rowing Club have already invested siginifcant funds into bringing this to Nairn. Our outreach team will be supporting the set up and helping people get their first introduction to the sport, this will be delivered free to the participants so that cost is not a barrier.
