We wish to replace a pedestrian bridge over the river Duror. Some years ago the bridge over the river Duror, which formed part of the core path, was removed as it had deteriorated and was considered a danger to the public. The removal of the bridge made this popular walk inaccessible. This bridge would provide increased opportunities for recreational activity within the forest, which would enrich lives and strengthen bonds within the community, and is in line with aspirations of the Lochaber Area Place Plan. This bridge replacement was also a key aspiration of our community in our Local Place Plan, which was registered in September 2024. We expect the reinstatement of our core path. We have consulted with The Highland Council who commissioned a proposal document in 2024. We have also spoken with Forestry and Land Scotland regarding the reinstatement of the access path and they are supportive of the project. In addition, a community trust has recently been established in Duror and Kentallen giving us a body which could take this project forward. This was previously a barrier in the past for getting the project off the ground. Next steps would be to investigate funding based on the quote provided within The Highland Council 2024 proposal, which we have increased by 10% to allow for inflation. Depending on any funding given would determine our start and end dates.
