BENEDETTI SESSIONS 2026

We (Highland Young Musicians - and extension of the high Life Highland music tuition service in Highland schools) have been offered a day for The Benedetti Sessions to come to inverness

Benedetti Sessions provide core workshop staff to work with our young people in schools for 3 dyas; staff training for 1 day then the week residency ends with a massed event for all abilities. In more urban areas, something oif this nature doesn't pose many/any issues in terms of transport but of course, in Highland we have to provide a transposrt option for most outlying areas and   are responsible for travel costs in order to open this amazing opportunity to pupils from across Highland. There would have to be a network of 6 coach routes to ensure this event can be inclusive and open to all those learning string instruments in Highland schools. A previous event was a great success (& the largest group Benedetti Sessions had worked with). That scale of event has since been surpassed...so we'd like to increase our goal to have 250 young musicians attend the day. The project is run in a supported yet exciting way, allowing peers to work in a calm and structured environment, meeting peers from across the region. For many of our younger learnenrs, there isn't an opportunity in their own community to be a part of a group music-making event - the day would allow then to consolidate the work done in school lessons and reinforce the purpose adnd benefits of learning a musical instrument. We WILL make the event happen no matter the outocme of this application - but would like to do so at minimal/no cost to HLH or familes - that's the ethos of Benedetti Sessions too. We expect the young psople to be energised, invigorated and to leave with a renewed sense of purpose for their musical learning. Having run such an event a number of years ago, we are well aware of the benefits and the format of the day required to maximise time available. Consents will be submitted by parents closer to the event and an electronic registration regime will be in place. There are currently no other fundoing applications submitted. The event will be held in Inverness Leisure on Friday 2nd October 2026 at the end of the weeks residency.
